This sort of stuff happens all the time though. Minor pro leagues constantly struggle to stay afloat and mergers are often necessary for survival.

Barroway is suing Wang for backing out of selling the isles. They'd agreed to a price and Wang tried to renegotiate after seeing how much the clippers sold for. They'd already spent a solid 4 months working to close the deal after agreeing on the price.
