Sergei Bobrovsky re-signs with the Columbus Blue Jackets. It is a two year deal worth 5 million each year.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Bobrobvsky's deal with CBJ has an AAV of just a shade under $6M. It's a two year deal.

Even more than we thought. Luckily it's just 2 years

E:
@Aportzline: #CBJ G Sergei Bobrovsky deal: 2 years, 11.25 million. AAV $5.625M.

Makes sense. They had 15m in cap space, they don't have a lot of big names coming up as UFA or RFA next year (Dubi and Foligno aren't until bob's contract is up) and a good chunk of their team will be coming out of ELCs when that happens. If he needs 5.5 to stay in the states then it's worth the gamble as long as the owner is willing.

#NHL teams are inching closer to $1 billion spent on re-signing the 2013 UFA class. http://www.capgeek.com/ufa-tracker/

Seems like a huge overpay for a guy thats only been a bonifide starter for one full (half) season. I'm mean sure he just won the Vezina but so did Mason.....

Mason won the calder, not the vezina.

Also, I don't think this is a bad deal. Sure 5+ M might be too much but that's what I was expecting if they were to sign him for only 2 years. I think it's better 2 years at 5 M than 5 years a 4M.

To be honest Mason deserved the Vezina that season.

Ballard on waivers

Sounds like aquilini doesn't want to buyout anyone. Isn't a buyout planned for ballard

Meh, Mason was 8th in SV% ( and I left out 3-4 goalies with ~ 40 games played ) and 2nd in GAA, Thomas was first in both categories.

Mason was behind a putrid defense and poor puck possession offense.
