I think stastny walks as a Ufa and they use that 6.5m on a defenceman through trade

IMO he re-signs. I think if they were gonna let him walk, they would have traded him at the deadline even though they were a playoff team.

Yeah that D-Corps really needs a lift, specially in the form of a puck mover. Barrie is rising as such, but Christ Hejda handling 2nd most minutes is just bad.

It would probably be for the best. Let mackinnon be second line Center and use part of stastnys money to get a 3rd line Center and a defenceman

Could actually see a guy like legwand or goc filling that role nicely

Mitchell is actually a pretty good 3rd line center. He's great defensively
