Bedard would be awesome, but canucks are never winning 1oa.

However, top 5 pick would be dope in this draft. A lot of analysts and scouts have fantelli at 2, but if canucks can snag mitchkov, that would be fucking huuuuuge. He's my pick after bedard, don't care if he won't be available til 2026.

this draft is so forward heavy i was kind of hoping the flyers got a D man but looking at the rankings its not likely unless we keep winning lol
im curious about this leo carlsson guy doesnt seem to be having a super strong season in SHL but bob mackenzie had him 3rd on his list and says- His 6-foot-3, almost 200-pound frame provides a power element to his slick offensive game and he, too, like Fantilli, is projected as a 1B or 2A NHL centre.
is this guy going to be a bust? a steal? i dont see many talking about him

Of the 10 scouts surveyed, Fantilli received four No. 2 votes, compared to three each for Carlsson and Michkov. Fantilli had five third-place votes and one fourth-place vote; Carlsson had five third-place votes and two fourth-place votes; and Michkov had seven fourth-place votes. There’s not a lot separating the trio who all project as top-line NHLers.

“The top four is special,” a scout said. “The Top 10 is very good, but relative to a lot of years, you can say the same thing about this year’s Top 20 or Top 30. I can go 40 deep and I still really like a lot of the prospects. So, yeah, it looks like a real strong group.”

sounds like a pretty good draft to tank even if you dont get a top 4-5 pick or to just stock up on 2nd and 3rd round picks

bedard and michkov is a tier of its own imo.
michkov got hurt and the whole russia war thing, with his contract being til 2026 definitely plays a lot of part in him falling down, which im glad if the canucks win 4th oa pick and snag him. I'll be so pissed if not more if they skip him, just how i felt when they drafted juolevi or tkachuk. it's like a fucking given and they fuck it up lol.
being an underager, outscoring ovechkin, and breaking kucherov's record that early in age is already a good sign. He never got a good chance to play in the KHL cuz SKA St. Petersburg is always stacked af, and coaches there never play the kids and put them in position to succeed. Once he got moved to a very shitty KHL team, playing with a lot of scrubs, he's 6g4a in 19 games and still not getting the minutes lolol. fuckin impressive.

Carlsson is great too, but i think he and fantelli are closer in tier than the other two, he gets a huge hard-on from bunch of NHL scouts cuz his size is already there, skating is great, and he loves playing in front of the net. He's apparently good at tip ins, screens, scoring garbage goals off rebounds etc. basically loves to sit his ass down in front of the goalie and make shit happen. Also helps that he played ton of games in the SHL already at a young age. NCAA is college pro hockey, while great, i think KHL/SHL are far superior league than college hockey for these kids. I think you can't go wrong with either Fantilli or Carlsson.

also
Patrick Kane on Vladimir Tarasenko trade to Rangers: "It's not like the happiest I've been to hear about a trade. I think the Rangers are a team that you definitely pay attention to and definitely are intrigued by, for obvious reasons.“

lol apparently he looked very disappointed and sad, cuz he was seriously considering NYR.

i agree SHL and KHL have the benefit of playing vs men and there is usually some ex nhlers in those leagues so you know its not far off and if they can hang at a young age its usually a good sign its not like stepping from juniors and like 15-16 year olds to men
and yeah after the fedotov situation i want flyers to stay away from any russian/khl player unless its like a provorov where the dude came over to canada when he was 15 to play in the CHL and doesn't plan on going back

haha oof yeah rangers are a good team they got a lot going on and with guys like kakko and lafrenier and shesterkin its looking like a bright future
tbh im kind of salty too i was hoping tarasenko hit the market next season and flyers could get him through FA but its likely he sticks around with the rangers

Fantelli is checking off a lot of boxes.

Size, skilled, Hockey IQ. That's the kind of player you can build around.

The weird thing about this draft is a lot of analysts don't even have one d-man in their top 10.

Leads me to believe even a pick 13-15th could end up with the possibility of drafting one of, or even possibility the best defenseman in a strong draft.

I don't want to get too excited but the Canucks could end up with two solid pieces even with our bad lottery draft luck.

Yeah, this draft is very deep. If Islanders fail to make playoffs and give us 13th-16th pick, they can still draft a good dman if the scouts deem BPA. There's like 3 dman that can fall outta top 12 anyway. With the Canucks pick, they can just BPA. This would be the year i won't mind if canucks pick 4th, but clearly they're gonna draft around 7 to 10 lmao!

Luck for us would be 5th overall haha.

Either way I am looking forward to a draft party.

lol @ P Kane

Anyone in sports ever tell the media they are upset a team traded for a player that plays their position/role because they wanted to be traded to that team instead?

Probably ends up in Vegas (Stone is out til at least the playoffs) or Dallas (probably looking for help in their top-9 to push Faksa down or out).
