And I've been wondering if the league will ever start calling cross-checking like they do slashing/hooks.
That is, strictly by definition.
Using the stick with two hands extending to gain a competitive advantage or harm someone.
Perrault was leaning on him like a "normal" hockey play.
But if you want to get strict, he's getting an advantage by using his stick like a cross check.
I see it headed there someday.
You see it in front of the net all the time. I think it's a penalty we'll see sometime soonish.

It gets called in front of the net, but only when the player falls and puck isn't near it seems like

I must be stupid then because there is no way he wanted to intentionally do that. His reaction right away was apologetic and him and Perrault actually hashed it out in the penalty box. Regardless, he was careless with his stick and will be suspended again.

The problem I had on the play was the referees didn't call a game misconduct or 5 min major until they saw the replay on the scoreboard. The refs should be suspended as well because the league mandates you cannot make penalty calls by looking at the replay.

It was intentional. You dont put down your stick with such force normally. He is in no way out of balance.
