I can't see it. It might be not as easy for Anaheim in the regular season but Canucks just don't have the offensive ability to do anything this year (or last year).

Would it be worth it for us (being a lower tier playoff team as of now) to trade for a top 6 scorer to solve some of those problems in your opinion?

Or should we not sacrifice our future too much and focus on bringing up up younger talent/picks?

Not really sure what direction we should go currently.

/e not wanting to be cynical but even if we made some good moves I do not see us getting out of the west by any stretch. So many Juggernauts that are just stacked from the net out right now.

I think we can trade for a top-6 guy but it can't be a rental. Has to be someone young and under contract. Unfortunately good, young forwards aren't really available and we don't have many assets to trade.

The best thing for this franchise would be if we traded Hamhuis, Bieksa, Burrows, Higgins and Lack ASAP. If it happened tomorrow it would push us YEARS ahead in a rebuild. In just one year after these trades we would have an amazing prospect/draft pick pool.

I love Bonino but I'd also trade him because we have good center depth in our prospect pool. We should trade him for an equal value D-man or winger in return.

Ya our defensive core has been aging and declining for some time now. I mean I have nothing against Hamhuis and Bieksa but truth is they are not what they once were and will only diminish at an increasing rate

Trading them now would be great and we could get younger on D fast. Lack could be moved as he has some value and we could bring up Markstrom (if deemed not a lost cause due to injury) and develop Demko well.

Burrows is not the same either and he does not really seem to fit anywhere for long. He has lost his touch long ago in my opinion. I want him to do well but I just do not see it happening for a consistent amount of time.

Not sure how I feel about trading Bonino though. I do not think the centers we drafted will be ready anytime too soon so I think we could wear thin without him pretty fast if others get injured. Then again if the right offer comes why not...

/e I would also explore the possibility of moving Kassian. As of now it just looks like he is never going to turn the corner. He has that occasional game were he is a beast who hits, fights, and looks good offensively but it is more a tease then anything. If he could play that way all the time we would have a gem but he cant seem to get to that point.

The reason I say trade Bonino is that we're looking 3 years ahead. At that time, Horvat will be a solid NHLer, I think Vey will develop into a good 2C and both Cassels and McCann (hopefully Gaunce) will be pushing for NHL spots.

If there's one thing our prospect pool has, it's centers that may not have 1C potential but do look like NHL locks. I think Bonino could be replaced by Vey at 2C as early as next season (I'm high on Vey lol).

Burrows is not what he once was but if we retain half his salary, I think he'd be a valuable bargaining chip. A team will want a 2M Burrows and we can eat that retained cap 'cause we'll be rebuilding.

As for Kassian, it's obviously a hot-topic these days. The only issue with trading him now is that his value is low. It's a gamble either way... if we wait longer his value might drop to nothing. It will definitely be interesting seeing what we do with him.

Canucks trade Gustav Forsling for Adam Clendening

Fosling was our 5th rounder at last summer's draft. He has progressed a lot in less than a year, looking like a steal for a 5th rounder. He was one of the better players in the entire tournament at this year's WJC which significantly raised his stock.

Clendening is a 22 year-old two-way D-man who has had success in the AHL. Before this season this trade would have looked like highway robbery for us, but he's kind of had a down year so far. Still, he is/was regarded as Chicago's 4th best prospect.

Clendening might make it into the lineup tonight and could very well be put on the #1 PP right away.

Ronald Kenins will make his NHL debut tonight. Excited to see him play, the people who watch him say he's an awesome energy player. He will take Dorsett's spot who will be miss the game because of the hit to the head he received from Kesler.

 Weber, too.

We severely lack offensive D-men.

Clendening will require waivers next year aswell which is one reason Chicago got rid of him. No room on the right side
