Can I just add that the Bruins have the best Power Play unit in hockey, and have once again gotten absolutely screwed by having among the fewest PP opportunities?? Some of you may remember my post last year about this, but once again the Bruins are 29th in the league in Power Play Opportunities. In previous years they ranked 29th, 30th, 30th, 25th, 26th, 29th, 27th, and 27th before having one year (2005) where they ranked 6th, then before that 28th. That's 10 years with 1 year in the top 6, and 9 years in the bottom 5. When I posted this last year I got a lot of mixed responses. Some said "we're getting screwed" whereas others said "we just don't have the talented players, so we don't draw tripping/hooking/interference calls. Well it doesn't seem to matter year to year what players we have. We've gone through quite a few over the last 10 years or so, with no real impact on our PP Opportunities.
I'm less concerned with "how many goals could they have scored?" with "How many fewer goals would they have allowed?" More time on the PP means not only more scoring opportunities, but fewer goals allowed, more rested defensemen, and fewer shots on your goalie. And probably (anecdotally) fewer penalties by you.
