Inconsequential
I agree he is garbage, but his hot takes can still be correct or at least partially :bouncy:

I was being sarcastic, sort of. He could be right but his opinion, as a wife beater, is what's actually inconsequential.

The excuse a lot of people seem to have is “it’s playoff hockey, keep your head up”. This is nonsensical. I agree that hits like this is more likely because it’s the playoffs, but that doesn’t absolve Scheifele of wrong doing. A player having his head down or in a vulnerable position doesn’t mean you have the green light to try and take it off. The onus is on the player delivering the check to avoid head contact.

Well it shouldn't be, otherwise it encourages players to put themselves into vulnerable positions because they know the rules protect them.

There's too much grey area this way. Keep it simple and just make it a rule that you can't make contact to the head with a body check in any form even if accidental. That'll both reduce concussions and make these discussions go away.

Thats pretty much how it's called. Whether a guys head is down or not, you can't make contact with his head or you face a suspension

Isn't it the "principal point of contact" thing where you can make contact to the head as long as it's not a direct headshot?

That seems to be where the grey is.

Unless there's been a rule change I'm not aware of.

It depends. There is some grey area. You can hit an area not the head then continue up through the head and have it still be punished the same as a direct head hit.

If you hit a guy shoulder to shoulder but he turns his head into you as your momentum carries, that shouldn't be penalized like schiefeles situation where he starts his check at the chest but finishes high and goes through the head.
