1: the first volley of bullets dropped him, the threat was eliminated
2: there was much more time to negotiate and wait for back up who could handle the situation better (rubber bullets, tazer)
3: the guy didnt have a gun dx
4: there were no hostages dragoneth
5: the tazer at the end was an obvious cover up to make it look like non lethal force was used before lethal force was used
6: this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEdqejrFawM shows that the cops were asking people if they caught the whole incident on camera to know if the tazer alibi would work.

You make so many bullshit assumptions that are based on nothing. It's actually impressive.

1. You don't know it was eliminated, he still could have been reaching for something
2. Not if it looked like there was an imminent threat. Doesn't matter if there was, if a person could reasonably think the guy was gonna do something negotiation time is over

Don't walk into a public place with a knife and wave it around at other people in a threatening manner.

Failing that when police ask you to DROP the weapon... DO IT!

how hard is that to understand? Someone called the cops on me and my friends a few years ago because we had a pellet gun that someone mistook for a hunting riffle. When you have guns drawn on you and the police are shouting to drop the weapon why the hell would you not drop it. We had the pellet gun thrown to the ground and went down without incident. As a result nobody was hurt and we were released shortly free to go without incident.

Many of you are making assumptions and stating those assumptions as facts. The ending is tragic, and maybe the situation could have been handled differently.... but until then let the investigation conclude before jumping to conclusions.
