Flyers shopping center Carter?
TheFourthPeriod.com
According to the Ottawa Sun, the Philadelphia Flyers are looking to shake up their roster and are trying to trade dynamic center Jeff Carter.

The Sun claims Flyers GM Paul Holmgren nixed a deal for Montreal Canadiens goalie Jaroslav Halak, however Habs GM Bob Gainey told ruefrontenac.com this week that talks never materialized.

It's believed the Canadiens and Flyers are still talking.

During Saturday night's "The Hotstove" segment on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada, the panel confirmed indicated that the Canadiens want a top-six forward to Halak, though one source told TFP the Habs would need to include more in a package.

Oh, check this out too

Lecavalier's future in question
TheFourthPeriod.com
Given the Lightning's less than impressive start to the season, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding Vincent Lecavalier and his future in Tampa Bay.

According to the Ottawa Sun, Lecavalier's situation could come to a head before the Mar. 3 trade deadline.

Lecavalier has struggled for most of the season and hasn't been able to create any chemistry with Alex Tanguay, whom the Lightning brought in as an unrestricted free agent specifically to play alongside their captain.

It has been widely reported that Lecavalier is disappointed in the organization, specifically with ownership, and that has affected his on-ice performance.

The Lightning currently sits 11th in the Eastern Conference with a 12-14-9 record and 33 points, four points out of a playoff spot.

A number of teams are still believed to be interested in Lecavalier, should Tampa Bay GM Brian Lawton decide to move him this season.

Lecavalier is in the first-year of an 11-year, $85 million contract that includes a no-trade clause. If the Lightning wants to move him, he'd have to sign off on the trade.
