Leash training a lab is a bitch. She's getting better at walking but it's less of "this is where I should be" and more of "if I keep trying to drag this guy I am going to die of heatstroke, we'll let him lead."

if you have a long hallway where you live you can practice indoor to have the dog stay next to you. Practice stopping and starting again for a while. When you stop put your hand in front and move is downwards when you say stop, or halt so the dog can see also. give cookies

It becomes easier once they get older... Puppies can be terrible at times to deal with because they get big so fast, but still have so much energy. My sister has a Porteguese Water Dog and it pulled on the leash for a good year before it learned. And it wasnt from a lack of teaching, my sister/brother in law spent hours training the damn dog, just a slow learner haha

She's perfectly fine indoors.... up until the second we step outside. I figured out a grip that keeps her next to me without having to constantly pull her aside (like a belt loop leash type effect), it's just exhausting lol. Million times better than when I got her though.
After about 2 minutes she got the clue today. When I got her I couldn't keep her next to me no matter what.

/e there are two long hallways between my door and outside. I think she gets riled up by the anticipation lol. It's funny cuz right now she's just sitting nicely next to my computer chair getting brushed without a problem. Complete personality change when the notion of going outside comes up.
