Not sure if I wanna trade with the Ducks... they always makes us feel bad 2 years later (Pronger trade)

coburn is a solid top 4 guy and has been for a while now
the problem was when injuries kicked in and he got paired with grossman whos slow as a mofo
coburns not the fastest but adding grossman whos even slower ... the pair didnt fair to well lol
e: him and mnezaros made a pretty solid 2nd unit but mezzy as hurt and timo was too busy baby sitting schenn til flyers got him playing real hockey

ive always meant that you need the big minute muncher like pronger, enver meant you need a bunch of low tier ones lol

we got that guy in timo we just dont have the 2nd one to go with him although schenn might be the guy
schenn looked so boss when he went to the leafs then went downhill we got him he was sooo bad... but by the end of the season schenn was one of our best D
the problem is holmgren went out getting to much defense now were stuck with a bunch of 2nd tier d men and have to much $$ tied into the backend and not enough offense up front becasue of it
hes not moving d cuz they suck or flyers need a whole new defense... we need to get offense and the way to get capspace for it is move extra D we have

that leaves the question whos expendable? and worth trading away?

streit-just signed him hes not going anywhere
coburn-good top 4 but prob fetch the biggest return
mezaros- good d man prob wouldnt fetch the same return as coburn
grossman- guys overpaid slow and only good at blocking shots .... be hard to even trade this guy

timonen, coburn and schenn averaged about ~22-ish min a game

im talking about north of 25

thats because our D isnt as bad as everybody says n lavi spreads out the mins keeping them fresh
when we had pronger theo nly reaosn the to p4 guys logged os many mins is becasue our 3rd pairing of parent andbartulis iirc? were fuckin horribad
in the playoffs we went to the finals using 4 d men everytime the 3rd pair got put out the other team scored homers triyng to avoid thatby having more depth as too a really good top 4 with a crap 3rd pairing

Your players are fine but your strategies suck. Your D coordinator should have been fired several times in the last couple years.

honestly last season i wouldnt have been surprised if the entire coaching staff got fired lavi made some REALLY WHACK choices with line combos that werent working
but it wont happen tho look at our goalie history.... its so bad yet we keep the same fuckin guy to constantly fail developing goalies
i mean i dont blame lavi for starting out wit harts-giroux-briere i would expect that to work too

but then it was like tye mcginn -giroux-briere
rinaldo-giroux-briere
he just ketp giving giroux weird ass wingers that werent helping the cause finally gave him voracek and they went beast mode
briere lost it and then he was giving him rookie ahl left wingers ... no wonder giroux wasnt putting up pionts lol he had like 6 in 15 games before he got voracek n finished 48 in 48
flyers also started winning more games becasue we had atleast 1 line scoring goals which was gagne-giroux-voracek

Coburn has been solid. The biggest problem last year was injuries on our blue line. There was also a lot of bad coaching going on.

Also it sounds like holmgren wants to trade up to draft Nurse. He really really wants him. Personally I'd like zadorov, but either would be a great fit

What do you think about our chance of picking a solid top 2 d-man in this draft?

At 11 rank that is. I dont know much of the prospects after the first 5-6 (Monahan being my 6)
I know a few from the Q but the others.. idk
