My wife got into car accident and didn't work for like 6 months. Her net pay was 60k.

I made about 110k last year, and my net pay was 54k lol.

Feels fucking bad man

I came close to the 200k year lyfe last year
but shit is crazy

with groceries and everything
I'm not saving much

I don't even know how ''normal'' people with dollorama type job can even afford to live
we may as well go back to slavery
food and rent was provided

5 years ago I rented a small 1 bed place in Vic for just over 1400. Same exact floor plan is now in the 2000-2100 range. 2-beds in the same building are now 2800-3000. So if you're paid now like I was in recent memory the same money doesn't even get your own place anymore, you pay the same to have to share. These aren't even the worst hikes I've seen, at least the building I rented was modern. BC is full of shitholes where landlords are renovicting, slapping some paint over and charging 2K+ for tiny apartments while still being slums.

That's just the rental side. I'm seeing old leaky townhomes in my hood push 1 million dollars. Average detached home in the same area is 2 mil. That's with higher interest rates than it's been in decades so actual mortgage payments are a lot worse. You can be a doctor couple and you're going to struggle to afford what people consider "average". There's quite literally no hope for anyone outside of the top 5-10% who don't get fat help from parents.

I make enough money that I can basically buy w/e I want and go on whatever trip I can imagine but I can't afford to move out from my parents home lol. I pay my fair share of the bills in a house where I have my own big WFH office and it's not even 1K dollars, that's just the difference in what housing prices used to be vs now. It's crazy how the current generation is facing a way worse situation and I'm not even talking about groceries or transport.

What do you do for work? That’s good money man good for you.

I had some big years in 2020-2021, and even 2022. But last year was nothing special, probably into the 75ish range.

This year should be good again though.

But yeah I can’t even imagine living in Ontario or bc.

Big part of reason why I prefer to take much time off and stay away from my work. Grinding 200k to take home less than 100k ain't worth it for me.

Normal ppl get taxed much less, and don't got deductibles. Also qualifies for benefits. I believe dental is next for ppl making less than 80k.

For us BC ppl we joke that cactus Club waitresses make more than 200k cuz on paper they're min wage and get taxed at lowest bracket, but they sure as hell don't declare their true income with tips haha.

Canada literally turned into a place where ultra rich and ultra poor thrive, and the rest get fucked lol. For some context, I know a dude is low income on paper, but owns a 12m mansion, has 6 kids which qualify for all benefits, 6 cars, yacht etc. At least he helps our economy by spending a lot lol

Just bitcoin bros, don't treat it as an investment but like an easier way of moving/selling form of gold. See whats up in 2040

How about computer audio.
Tired of using my monitors shitty stock speakers. Between gaming and streaming shows I need something with a bit more oomph.

Kanto Ora

Kanto yu6
Audioengine a5+ wireless

Was debating between the yu6 and a5+ for past few days. Then just stumbled upon the Kanto Oras and my goodness I feel they'd be ideal. Anyone have any input? (Haha a/v joke there)

So I pulled the trigger on the kanto ora's
They arrive tomorrow. Thanks for help no one.

What sold me was their smaller size. Cheaper. Newer (released jus Oct 30 2023) and gonna pair it with a 8inch sub eventually. Apparently these are audiophile level comp speakers.
