Now with "no fault insurance" you can get absolutely screwed over if you are hurt by a careless driver.
A friend of mine was in a movie theater parking lot when a careless driver struck a pole. The pole glanced off his shoulder/elbow.
He has a plate in his elbow and his shoulder is still messed up. He could not sue ICBC for a dollar amount to make himself whole as a result of these changes.
All ICBC did was pay him some of his lost wages because he could not work and has been sending him to physio.
He's a moving/storage contractor and now he can't do that job properly anymore.
It's scary. You could be minding your own business and get wrecked with little recourse.
It's made me extremely careful anywhere I go now. Knowing if I get shit luck I could be ruined by these policy changes.
