Rumor is they couldn't agree to terms when it came to the freedom to do work outside of The Simpsons.

Production is about to start on season 27 and they have signed on for a 28th after that.

They really need to put the show out of its misery. Hasn't been very good in at least decade.

They still have great episodes, just not as often as they used to. Plus the whole social/political commentary cartoon thing isn't really in anymore. Now it's dark gritty thriller/drama mashups and romantic comedies disguised as regular comedies. I would watch Simpsons still if not for GoT and TWD being up against it.
