The problem isn't governments not knowing what to do or having the wrong priorities. The problem is that the system is working exactly as intended.
You can't simultaneously have homes give better equity and dividends than actual financial instruments, and have affordable housing at the same time. The Libs are happy to keep adding fuel to the fire because landowning Canadians are making out like bandits. And these people control politics locally too so they want their bonanza to keep going.
They have no problem with Chinese "students" driving Lambos with N's and building mansions in farmland, because to get that they have to buy the land and the stuff from said landowners. What they DO have a problem with are us plebs complaining about inflation and wages not keeping up. Then, you know, comunism and stuff.
I fucking hate Sam Cooper because he keeps arguing that Canadians are "naive" in letting dirty money run amok in BC and elsewhere. There's nothing naive about it, it's very deliberate by our decision makers and the wannabe aristocracy that props them up.
I had a rich Chinese buddy that lived in a 5+mil house in South Surrey, he told me, "You think there's no corruption and bribery here in Canada? It's just not as obvious as China. Here the politicians don't want cash, but they want political favours, think help with a project that they're trying to spearhead or help convince the business circle for support during election time. It's all the same, it's just done more subtly here, my dad and I have had private dinners with the politicians here just like we do back home."
