Vancouver is the most bs city to live in for Canadians. Basically it's catered to the rich ppl from overseas lol.

What they do is, use their home country money to live in Vancouver. Buy a mansion, have 4-6kids and get benefits for each child, make sure u don't have a job to reap the benefits of being low income, but also own 5 cars, and a yacht. Pay 5k/mo to maintain it etc. Etc.

Meanwhile, I work my ass off, and 55% of my pay goes to deductions and I cry everytiem. Our taxes get used up on dumb shit things like Trudeau's 30k/mo groceries, private vacations, ez don8 to pipeline to murica for more than they asked for, but hey budget will balance itself El oh El.

It's not the fault of foreigners taking advantage, it's the fault of greedy ass "old stock" Canadians who don't give a shit about anything as long as their equity goes up, their property taxes stay low and the plebs keep servicing them. yeah ofc, foreigners are just using it to their advantage cuz Canadian government here are way too fucking slow and brain dead to do anything, and always react to do things after the fact. Experts suggest stuff so they can be proactive about it, but it gets shutdown, and that's when the foreigners from overseas know it's gonna be safe to do it cuz gov is too busy having focus on much less important things or something that will benefit the current party in control. **cough spending 1.5m on security for pride events** since there's a lot of non straight ppl these days, getting their support for next election is huge, but to me, i could give flying fucks about it. Just as much if the gov were to spend 1.5m on security for straight ppl parade or regular parade. Like who gives a fuck if you're gay or straight, can we spend 1.5m on road infrastructure instead? fucking dumbfucks even messed that up with all the fucking space and land we got compared to asia

They'd get tax money regardless, in fact they'd get "more" if they raised taxes without running the country to the ground and trying to achieve recession at a rapid rate like rn. Or the very least, Canadians won't feel as bad if taxes are raised if they see that its being put to good use, rather than fucking up the middle class and only benefiting people who are extremely poor or extremely rich. Vancouver is probably only the select few city in the world where your household income is 250k+ and being hesitant to buy a decent house to live in

The problem isn't governments not knowing what to do or having the wrong priorities. The problem is that the system is working exactly as intended.

You can't simultaneously have homes give better equity and dividends than actual financial instruments, and have affordable housing at the same time. The Libs are happy to keep adding fuel to the fire because landowning Canadians are making out like bandits. And these people control politics locally too so they want their bonanza to keep going.

They have no problem with Chinese "students" driving Lambos with N's and building mansions in farmland, because to get that they have to buy the land and the stuff from said landowners. What they DO have a problem with are us plebs complaining about inflation and wages not keeping up. Then, you know, comunism and stuff.

I fucking hate Sam Cooper because he keeps arguing that Canadians are "naive" in letting dirty money run amok in BC and elsewhere. There's nothing naive about it, it's very deliberate by our decision makers and the wannabe aristocracy that props them up.
