youre a perfect example of someone who is likely a worse candidate for jury duty than those very high school drop outs, despite your willingness to participate.

god forbid you were part of a jury assigned to someone who was lesser of a human being than you due to their lacking of an education and unapparent supremacist views. you would probably want a life sentence handed out for those reasons alone.

Man, I really got to you

Ah ok. Not encouraging for people to claim that, but I heard it was possible

Meh. If it's white on white just claim you have a bias towards good Christian boys.

People do it, but you're better just to tell the truth then make up something outlandish. I've heard of judges finding people in contempt of court for their conduct during jury selection. Most people who get selected for jury duty never actually get to sit on a jury. You can easily just say that you've heard about the case and you already have an opinion. That's not a lie, and that's not crazy, but it'll probably make one of the lawyers not want you for jury duty.

In the US, lawyers are only able to throw out a certain number of jurors. It is supposed to be representative of your peers after all, even the racist and bigoted people

Being a racist asshole seems more plausible than pretending to have never received the notice is what I was getting at

Do not want to get too far into an argument about this lol

They're supposed to say tough luck it's your civic duty. There is exemptions though.

First and foremost a jury should be unbiased. What you're referring to is a sort of veto both the prosecution and defense (or plaintiff and defendant) have. I'm sure you know how it works already but for others jury selection works by going through the "pool" of jurors and asking them simple questions. Lawyers say if they're OK or not with the person, and can veto certain people they think will lean towards one side. The presiding judge of course has unlimited authority to control who is selected or not.

It's a jury of your peers, but it's supposed to be an unbiased jury of your peers. In the segregation south, juries were juries of your peers but they were incredibly biased. Modern justice system ought to avoid that and the jury selection process does its best to do that.

Meh. I wouldnt skip duty tbh. If everyone who thought their time was too valuable to serve tossed their summons, you'd have the high school drop outs with nothing better to do running our legal system. Do you wanna be on trial for something you didn't do and put your life in Cletus joe-bob's hands?

if its a trial of my peers, cletus joe bob is gunna be on the jury any way

Some downtown Toronto McDonald's offering free delivery as long as you have a salad in your order.
