BUT THE SHOW WAS MAINLY ON POINT WITH THE BOOKS UNTIL THIS SEASON!

I get that they will leave certain things out and go in different directions (like Tyrion and his little dwarf lover) but there are some major events being left out now. That's pretty much what we're discussing

I think theyre merging a lot of characters into 1.

Mormont literally has pieces of storyline from 3 different book characters

That's the evolution of a book elitist. At first they're just happy it has a show. Then a few seasons in they start nitpicking the most superficial things.

I'm honestly happy that the book and the show are becoming two separate entities

I'm a fan of the work D&D have put in to creating a masterpiece, and those who have read the books will be gifted with 2 great stories instead of 1

Also, as for people being upset about deaths and plots that don't occur in the book... isn't that why we like the book in the first place???

When you read/watch the Red Wedding, we are maddened/saddened by the event because it shocks us and kills a major character, but we love it because it shows us how fickle characters are in GoT

If the show kills off an important individual, doesn't it just demonstrate the same thing we love about the books?

I haven't read the books but I can understand why book readers are upset.

Unfortunately TV audience aren't interested in all the background detail. They want action. Personally I thought episode 5 was a great episode due to all the story. You go to reddit and people are "I just want Dragons and fighting"

I wish I was a reader, I have the books. I just get bored. I also wish the show would go into more detail. I believe they're on a 7 year/7 season timeline though.

There are shows out there that are mostly talking but still interesting / suspenseful / exciting.

Just because someone finds something boring doesn't mean they are only satisfied with mindless action.

If you want two seasons per book go ahead and make a petition, but you just can't do that with a 10-12 episode cycle. The episodes have been fantastic and you're letting it get ruined for you that something you wanted to happen isn't happening.
Honestly I don't think it's a longshot to compare it to a kid throwing a tantrum because his mom won't buy him gummies at the grocery store.

Yep I'm happy to go along for the ride, good not knowing things. Will be fun to finish the story as a show instead of book.

Well it depends what you mean by that. I'm not trying to discredit the show. It's been absolutely fantastic. I'm just let down that they aren't going forward (at least it appears that way) with some major characters. But that's not the same as them killing them off. Not introducing someone important isn't the same as killing them off. I don't think the show has done away with anyone major that wasn't killed in the books so far

You don't like the show regardless.
