They're getting TOO far away from the books, and the shows just feel empty. Lady Stoneheart not coming at all really pisses me off. So many people want it, and the story is worth being added in. If you have no plans to read the books, you should look her up and see what you're missing. It won't be a spoiler since they already said it isn't happening.

And ruin a perfectly good series? Im glad I never read the books. Im still able to enjoy the show

I don't get why they thought cutting out big characters was a good idea. They're going to pass GRRM soon and they're just speeding it up by cutting out greyjoys, quentyn, joncon+aegon.

Didn't they say GoT would only go as far as 7 seasons? Maybe that's why.

I still enjoy the show, but it's really taking a downward spiral this season. If you're enjoying it, then I highly recommend reading the books since you'll be blown away at the events that actually happen.

Yeah, Aegon/Griff is another massive leave out.

If they only plan to do 7 seasons, they shouldn't be doing only 10 episodes per year. I know it has high production costs and such, but seriously you could fill another 2 seasons with everything they're leaving out, let alone the next book as well.

I'll say it, it's a better TV show than book series.

My brother told me the same thing. He said he read the books and prefers the TV show... I think lots of people romanticize themselves with novels always being superior to TV shows or movies and get nostalgia goggles. From what my brother told me, there are large chunks of the book that are essentially pointless filler that nothing comes of, which gets frustrating when you're reading these massive books. Just what he told me, plsnorage.

The only thing better in the show is Sansa, basically every other character is less likeable

Foreshadowing in the books is done in interesting ways, the show just spells everything out for you. The complete lack of prophecies and dreams in the show just feels like it's missing a huge driving force in the story. The prince that was promised I doubt most show watchers would even know about since it's just completely gone from the show but is basically the reason the story is moving forward.

Now I enjoyed the books, particularly the third (season 3&4), but it's true. Books 4 and 5 nothing really happened. He also writes at like a high school level. And the sex scenes are seriously cringe-worthy. They read almost like a parody, and there are just as many of them as there are in the show. Every time they happened I just pictured a fat old man sitting as his desk trying to come up with as many adjectives for 'boobs' as he could.
