Yea i saw that and got pretty excited. It kinda makes sense for both teams, since kaberle would help more this year for a cup run and toronto would pick up a top prospect

It doesn't make sense for the Canucks to move for Kaberle.

Our blue line is actually very deep, when healthy.

And everybody is expected back by the playoffs.

Edler - Ehrhoff
Ballard - Hamhuis
Bieksa - Salo

Extra: Alberts, Rome, Tanev, Sweatt

When healthy, we easily have the best D line in the league

They've got lots of blueline depth. When they're healthy, best in the league. No one is out for the season (pending ballard's assessment).

Edler will be back for the playoffs (most likely) and salo is coming back within a week. Kaberle isn't worth losing a prospect at this point. He'd only be a minor upgrade.

I wouldn't call Kaberle an upgrade in any sense to our team.
We have Ehrhoff to QB out PP, which is basically Kaberle's specialty.
He's too soft for the Western Conference and he'd get exposed in the playoffs.

What we DO need is possibly a top6 winger for the 2nd line or a spectacular 3rd line 2way player.

Hodgson + a pick would be WAY too high for a rental in Kaberle. The dude is UFA at the end of the season. No way Gillis would allow himself to get fleeced like that

Kaberle would certainly be an upgrade to our powerplay considering we've got Samuelsson on the point, which I really don't like. But that's about all he's good for... which is why trading for him would be pointless.

He's only there now because Edler is out.
