I keep talking about it with my girlfriend.
It's actually quite exciting. The most conservative province, whom for 44 years has been conservative (provincial level), and right before an election has a major swing in the popular vote.

Ofcourse nothings official yet, but still looks like things are headed that way

Interesting that after all this pipeline = pro-Canada bullshit that it's Albertans who are voting in a party who is anti Transalta and Enbridge pipelines. Pretty interesting. I work downtown Calgary and everyone thinks the sky is falling just because the Oil and Gas industry will have to actually obey environmental laws now, and give back a bit more to the rest of the Province. Good stuff.

We'll see how it ends up. IIRC, the Wildrose Party had like 48% of the seats in the polls and ended up with ~18% of them last election. I'm not sure that Albertans are willing to take such a risk at this time, especially to move towards a party that has more 'socialist' ideals than the conservatives. I suppose we will see, maybe the conservatives have done enough damage that people will want to give a different party a chance. Redford was the biggest joke to ever happen to this province.

So Wildrose says they're not going to raise taxes and somehow still have a balanced budget by 2017... How does that happen with no tax increase? Clearly they'll have to make some seriousssss cuts to healthcare and government workers amongst many more things. How is that going to help our healthcare system when it already is that way it is, and people are dying in hospitals before receiving treatment? They also want to allow Albertans to travel for healthcare so they get quicker treatment and will be reimbursed.. How does improve the average Albertan that's not making "Alberta oil money" and can't afford to travel to receive quicker treatment?
NDP wants a review of oil royalties to see if anything else can be done, increase larger corporation taxes by 2%, and increase the minimum wage $5/hr by 2018.. Most people are aware you can't survive off Alberta's current minimum wage because it's right above the line of living in poverty. NDP wants to make higher income tax brackets by a couple percent for those who are making 125k+ and create over 2000 long term care spaces. You tell me which one sounds more appealing to Albertans.
Furthermore.. Did you see Brain Jean in the Decision Alberta debate? All he did was stand there like a deer in headlights and say "We won't raise taxes.".. No further input about the many other problems Alberta is facing right now. And that's who you want to elect to run the province?
It's pretty evident as to why there's so much buzz about NDP right now.

Probably tldr for the most of you

I agree the NDP has a lot of buzz around it. The big thing to me, is they are messing with Alberta's biggest industry. Regardless of what anyone says, increasing corporate taxes effects jobs. Companies are quick to cut jobs to ensure they are still profitable. This was the exact reason Albertans hate the liberals on a national level.

Now, I'm not saying the PCs are any better because they've shown a serious lack of money management abilities in the past few years. I just don't know if bringing in a party that has gone on the record of stating they are intending to raising taxes is the right way to handle this. I think Alberta needs to take a serious look at how they budget their money first, and then look at raising oil royalties or increasing corporate taxes from there. I really feel like there has been a serious mismanagement of funds on the provincial level since Klein left office.
