it does happen, not all unions but most.
happened to me when i worked for the city.
my crew said i was working too hard/fast, and that i needed to slow down. So I did, and apparently it was still too fast... They literally meant, slo-mo.
Fuck that i didnt want to look like an idiot to the public eyes.

from 8 hours of work a day, real work would be around 30-45 minutes, rest of 7hr 15min is absolutely bullshit. Felt so shitty to find out the tax payer's $$$ is being wasted like dis.
i mean, fuck on halloween of 2014 we curved pumpkin's for 4 hours, so that we can get vote on who's pumpkin's the best to win shit ton of gifts worth over $200, including bc lions tix and canucks tix. The city would provide us with the food at lunch, then chill to vote for the winner.
Then there's EDO's which is like a "paid holiday" for city workers, they're guaranteed 1 day off once a month, paid. For working "extra 15min" everyday, which never happens.

well i mean it depends

some things yes, you should slow down in otherwise youll get injured. not sure who you were working for but theres no way the company would survive doing that lol. unless its really small..

My mum was a nurse and got hassled by the other nurses for cutting patients nails. Because it made them look bad for not doing it.

This is a real thing and happens lots of places.

I got told by my last job to slowdown or i wouldnt have a job because the work would all be done lol.

New job wanta me to work faster and i couldnt possibly lol

E/ also had a buddy who had a ttc construction contract. He was only allowed to use the shovel. One guy had thre jack hammer and another 2 laid the track. No one was allowed to help each so he spent a fee hours each day watching the other guys work

We are i just tangented.

And lots of work places have unions not just city, though municipal tends to be the easiest contracts of all.

well the problem isn't taking ppl that slack off, it's hardworking ppl that eventually become lazy cos they're pressured to become lazy from the guys with seniority.
but yeah, if ur in a good crew, then u wont face that prob, but most of the time there's always more lazyfucks almost retiring vs someone who is putting 110% til retirement

where i work. IBEW 424.

you dont get hired by handing out resumes to union companies. its all based on a number system. first come. first serve on the job board. where union companies post they need jobs
