Sheppard and Desjardins are back

Quote
The Sharks have re-signed forward Andrew Desjardins to a two-year contract and forward James Sheppard to a one-year contract, the team announced on Wednesday. Both players were pending restricted free agents.

“James played his best hockey for us in the playoffs and his game continues to improve after missing the past couple seasons,” GM Doug Wilson said in a statement. “Andrew is a player that plays with an edge, can kill penalties and has the ability to play the North-South game we desire.”

Desjardins, 26, has seven goals and 16 assists for 23 points and 112 penalty minutes in three seasons with the Sharks. He had two goals and an assist for three points in 42 games in 2013.

Sheppard, 25, returned from a nearly three-year absence due to a serious knee left injury in 2013, scoring one goal and three assists for four points and 12 penalty minutes in 32 games. He was acquired by the Sharks from Minnesota on August 8, 2011 for a third round pick in the 2013 draft.

Sources confirm a long-term agreement is imminent between the Blues and D-man Kevin Shattenkirk.

I’m told to expect his contract to pay him north of $4 million over the next four seasons totaling around $17 million.

BRETT Sutter 1-year two-way. 150k/600k $250,000 guaranteed.

Welp, that guarantee is the next 4 years of salary for me.

Russian media reports that Sergei Kostitsyn has signed with KHL Avangard Omsk. So the SK74 & AK46 NHL saga is over.

Also, Shattenkirk did sign 4 years, $17M as jbell said. Good deal

The New York Post reported that the Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs had talked about a potential deal to send Vincent Lecavalier to Toronto, where the Leafs would get an asset out of that deal in exchange for using their financial might to absorb a buyout on Lecavalier's contract.

The Post added that Lecavalier could potentially re-sign with the Lightning at a cheaper rate as an unrestricted free agent. The deal would have got the Lightning out from under Lecavalier's $7.7 million salary cap hit. The 33-year-old has seven years and $45 million left on his contract. A buyout would pay him $30 million over 14 years.

Bill daly sent a memo out saying any team caught doing this is circumventing the cap and will and punished.

article is obviously garbage. leafs wouldn't take on that much money for that period of time, nor could tampa resign him if that was the case

Bill daly sent out a memo and it would have been compliance buyout so I think it was a legit trade situation.

Lightning don't have the financial freedom to compliance buyout him even.
