Nyquist gets 6 games for stick to spurgeons face ><

From this angle at around :30 you can see Nyquist's hand catch the glass as he is turning around.

Nyquist initially said it was an accident, and i wasnt too sure, but from this angle i can see how it would be an accident. This is my theory of what happened:

Nyquist, after getting up from being cross-checked was turning around to give spurgeon a shove back or start a little scuffle, but his hand hits the glass while turning around and his stick subsequently catches spurgeons face.

I agree with the 6 game suspension, but i do hope this angle was looked at by the DPoS and played a part in their decision to not throw the book at him.

In his hearing he said he was trying to spin his stick around to get it in a position to cross-check Spurgeon back.

Either way, I predicted 6-8 games so it seems reasonable. 10+ wouldn't have been out of the question, but I don't think the intent was to spear him in the face, and the DPoS agreed.

So it was as i said.

In my opinion, if he says it was an accident, there is evidence it was an accident (see video at :30), and no serious injury resulted from the play (spurgeon was stitched up and came back to play the entire game) honestly there probably shouldn't have been any suspension, but this is not old time hockey, so obv that wasn't going to happen. lol

Man you gotta take the homer goggles off....

Nyquist LOOKS at Spurgeon then violently spins around. Maybe he accidentally hit him in the face but he certainly wasnt planning anything good. It was meant to be a retaliation for being crosschecked, looks like he was trying to spear him in the chest or hook him. Gotta control your stick.

Your view of where he looks is irrelevant . That means nothing. Where you think is eyes are doesn't mean he was looking where you think he was.

Also I find it funny how nyquist gets 6 games for nearly taking someone's head off but vermette gets 10 for a love tap to an official LOL

i dont have homer goggles on. i am just pointing out what I SAW on the replay, and it matches up with his testimony to the DPoS is all i am saying. i support the suspension completely, if he got more than 10 i would be a little surprised. But there are no homer goggles on here buddy.

Yeah I re-read what you wrote, my bad mang.

I see your point that his glove got caught on the dasher and possibly changed the trajectory. But to claim it as an accident is ridiculous, he obviously had ill intent and the way he was swinging his stick it really looks like a spear to me.

Slashing someone who isnt part of the game is serious, even if you put these two side by side.

Look at Wideman last year, a hit that maybe would get a game or two got him 20 because it was a lines man. Gotta protect officials.

all good brother

i think the spot his stick hit spurgeons face was the accident, not the whole situation :P
