I'm ready for the big game tomorrow night against the Ducks. The Stars have 11 points and are only four points behind the Ducks and Sharks (15 each). All the Stars need to do is continue a little winning streak and they'll be at the top of the Pacific Division. With the shortened season it's important for the Stars not to fall too far behind if they expect to make the playoffs this year.

The Coyotes and Kings are at the bottom with 10 and 8 points, and both of those teams were amazing last year. The Kings are the defending Stanley Cup Champions. This has to be the best division in the NHL and there really isn't any room for error. The Stars have to play up to their talent level.

Hopefully Derek Roy will continue to play like he did last night. Scoring his first goal as a Dallas Star. The Stars need more goals aside from their first line. I'm confident that the top line of Morrow, Benn and Jagr will continue to shine and score. That's two games in a row that they all played well.

I feel the Stars have the talent to go deep this year. They can end their five-year long playoff drought.

They have the talent to make the playoffs but I don't think they have the talent to go far. Defense is far too shallow, they need a strong big top 4 defenseman. I'd like to see us trade for Jay Bouwmeester if Calgary continues to shit the bed.

When exactly is the trading deadline this year? You're right, they have been giving up some soft goals because of bad defense. They turn the puck over a lot and find themselves in a position where they have to commit a penalty. Kari Lehtonen needs more support around the net. He was frustrated after the Oilers tied the game off the power play goal.

It didn't seem like Gulutzan was all that happy in the post-game interview.

Dallas coach Glen Gulutzan was relieved his team came away with the win, but thought it shouldn't have allowed the Oilers back into the game in the third period. "I liked the win in overtime, but I didn't like the response after our two goals," he said. "We kept on turning the puck over and over and putting the game in jeopardy. Until we realize that we are a team that has to grind out games - and even if it gets dicey out there we have to play a certain way - we're not going to get traction. We have to learn to do a better job."

He shouldn't be too surprised if Edmonton comes back though. They have a slew of great scorers and are only going to get better.

What are the lines like right now? Going into the season I was expecting:

Eriksson - Roy - Ryder
Whitney - Benn - Jagr

It would be

Whitney - Roy - Ryder

If Dallas was healthy.
