Knowing some good affordable people to help with the work is important.
The value you can get out of a fixer upper is unbelievable compared to new houses or ones that don't need work done.
Something like tearing up shitty carpet and putting in some hard wood or laminate or changing kitchen tiling and cabinets can have amazing returns
For sure, I'm not looking to flip a house though I just wanted a house the way I wanted it without having to put work in it. I'm getting it on a saturday, moving in and sleeping there the first night. I saw cheaper houses with potential but am pretty lazy when it comes to doing that. Like I said by buddy bought a cheaper house and put work into it, redid floor, painting, put some love in it etc and it looks great now. But it was a lot of work and asking friends to come spend hours and hours after working their regular jobs and I don't want to do that
Don't get me wrong though, I will be doing renovations to it when I feel something is needed. Like adding a bathroom in the basement and changing the floors in the 2 bedrooms upstairs, just nothing is in a rush to do right now
