I'm deeply torn with emotions watching the Dallas Stars. I hope they win the 2020 Stanley Cup Final against Tampa Bay.
But what's it going to take for Houston, Texas to land an NHL team? A few teams are definitely going bankrupt I thought.

Arizona has been hemorrhaging tens of millions every year for decades....

Furthermore there have been reports of players being paid their signing bonuses late.

They will most likely lose Taylor Hall to free agency.

And... To top it all off they have lost a slough of draft picks because they were convicted of violating combine rules.

All of that is not even enough to get the team to relocate. I don't know what it will take in all honesty.

I think Gary and the league will do anything they can to prop up deadweight.

Expansion would be the more likely scenario to add additional teams to the league. That comes with a franchise fee of hundreds of millions though.

really doubt the league will expand beyond 32 teams, any more and it's a scheduling clusterfuck with talent dilution. none of the other major leagues think they can support more than that reliably, let alone the NHL.

the Coyotes will be sold and relocated, 0 chance they survive the COVID recession.

Yotes can move to bc, have 2 teams like Berta.
Then the Canucks will finally have decent travel schedules playing with Seattle, Berta teams and Yotes jajaja

I think the teams gotta be somewhere like Prince George,
Surrey would take like 80% of fan base from canucks
