Re; gambling discussion in other thread
Love poker. Don't particularly like gambling, but poker is great. Usually just home games, but I've done ok in the casino cash tables too, but don't enjoy the types of folks you have to play at those sorts of tables.
I've played at a few sketchy home game tables over the years though, one was an illegal basement 'casino' in BC where you'd have to keep your eyes open because scrubs would try to mark the cards or shuffle off the bottom. And there was one regular who would get staked by investors to play high roller games in Vancouver, until one day that guy showed up to the table missing fingers, lol. Got a nice hattrick there once, won the tourney 3 weeks in a row. Played at a basement bar game in Calgary 2 years ago with a couple tables and naked ladies dealing cards, was an experience, finished 4th of 25 I think, so close.
Sounds like a good time, so long as you are not the guy missing fingers.
Poker is fun but I never play for big money. Just $40 games with friends. Winner walks out with a few hundred bucks. Makes for an entertaining night.
Could never throw down big money on poker. Lately my friend who is lousy at poker has been winning some of the games. Lot of luck involved. When you chase cards like a fool and win despite terrible odds it pisses me off because stupidity should not be rewarded.
The one cool thing about Casino's is they have a bad beat jackpot. Would be pretty awesome to ripped off on a grand scale only to walk out with even more money than you would have due to a terrible beat.
