I have a smart tv ~ 3 years old. It is 4k.
How can you check to see if the input supports hdmi 2.1?
I want to get a ps5 racing chair/wheel and all that when Gran Turismo is released.
It is a 4k tv so if I don't have the option for the 2.1 cable how much do you think performance will be reduced?
/e Is it just a new cable I need to buy that is hdmi 2.1 speed or does it not work on all tv's?
there wont be any performance loss, you just wont get the variable refresh rate feature
its what gsync/freesync is on gaming monitors, it smooths out your frames nicely, provides a cleaner experience with much less screen tearing
much more relevant in first person games where the view/scene [what you see in your monitor] moves and renders very quickly
look on the back of your tv for a model number and i can look it up or you can google the manufacturer site and look in the specifications under inputs, it's likely 2.0 on your tv
the actual port on the tv needs to be specifically 2.1 or newer in order to support vrr, and you need a 2.1 cable
