Tanev future captain of this team, ez.

Wish we could've seen Virtanen though

Hard to really take much out of last night's game 'cause Calgary iced an AHL lineup and we had a pretty decent one. The important thing to note was the powerplay: Sedins controlling the puck in the right corner with three RH shots in Vey, Vrbata and Tanev staggered on the left side for shooting options.

Tanev on the power-play is really like a dream come true for me  love the decision, shocked it happened so early (I guess we can thank Edler's injury). We lack a true OFD so Tanev is the best option out of the guys we have. Nobody has a good slap-shot and Tanev's wrister is probably the most accurate. Plus he's very calm and composed and a great decision-maker and passer, the qualities you look for in a PPQB.

:hail:

Vey has been a nice surprise. It seems LA developed him properly and he's truly ready to jump into the NHL.

Also, Horvat has looked good to me, personally. At this point in his development, he doesn't bring much offensively at the NHL level but he has the strength, smarts, maturity and awareness to be a reliable NHL center already. I would really like to see him get a 9-game tryout @ 3C and see how he does.

More cuts:
Assigned to the Utica Comets:
- Henrik Tommernes
- Kent Huskins
- Ronalds Kenins
- Alex Friesen
- Joe Cannata
- John Negrin
- Kane Lafranchise
- Brendan Gaunce

Assigned to the Comets' training camp:
- JT Wyman
- Carter Bancks

Assigned to respective junior team:
- Jake Virtanen

Gaunce had a better preseason showing last year but it's not a big deal, he wasn't going to make it this year anyway. I assume Corrado will be sent down after the next round of cuts.

Markstrom cleared waivers. Will be interesting situation down in Utica with Eriksson and Markstrom both there.

And even more cuts:

These players have been waived. They will likely all clear to Utica:
Archibald
Andersson
Biega
Sanguinetti
Jeffrey
DeFazio

That means out of the prospects, these guys remain:
Jensen
Horvat
Shinkaruk
Corrado
*O'Reilly (might be injured or something)

Willie D confirms Shinkaruk - Horvat - Jensen line for tomorrow's game against Zona.

Richardson and Kassian out with what are probably minor injuries.

And yeah I thought it looked like Kassian hurt his hand/wrist in the last game he played.

I rather have Jensen or Horvat make it. I think playing against men in the AHL would be a good stepping stone for Shink. I don't think his game or his body is mature enough for the NHL.

Shinky is too small and will get crushed in NHL this year. With a year of building he will be on point for next season. Jensen at least is developing and could have a spot, and like someone said earlier Horvat needs to get more offensive.

We only got two pp's iirc and yea, they looked good. Arizona got a couple of lucky guy goals. Our offence didn't have much going for it tonight. Nobody really stood on to me.

/e your man Tanev scored on miller tonight. B)
