In the age of meme stonks and internet viral trends, I think this could be catastrophic to the humans as a species. Without question.

No I don’t feel like I have any power in our current democracy, but I don’t really wake up every morning expecting to. My voice doesn’t carry anymore weight than the person with an opposing point of view. Our current system is the best thing available to us at this point in time. Unless you have an alternative. The aforementioned suggestions have historically ended in serious bloodshed, I’d prefer to avoid that.

well let's stall here then
until we become our own demise

I dont have the miraculous solution but i refuse to think that's the best we can do. I just refuse to believe it

but lol you're not wrong about this part actually

But it isn’t really capitalism.

If governments decide to bail out companies when they’re suffering can we really say it’s a free market?

Imagine thinking that making our system a purer form of capitalism is in your best interest. You flipped through some Ayn Rand one time in a bookstore and now you’re an ideologue huh.

Yes but 100% capitalism would be horrible. If you think it’s bad now, yikes.

100% of any form of governing ideology would have a finite lifespan, I think the goal of the current system is to try and extend that lifespan.

This is just my uninformed opinion of course.

some of the bailouts are dumb there are companies in the marijuana industry that have needed a bailout i think "the green organic dutchman" got multiple bail outs from the govt
like if they cant make money selling legal weed they should be selling legal weed let them fold up and close instead of pumping them with money to put out shit product and probably bleed out more money
the companies making the profits are the good ones that will stick around why give money to shit companies that have no idea wtf they are doing lol i used to see bail outs and be like g"ood we need that company" but we dont need TGOD and their shit weed

Bailouts are pretty counter to capitalism.

Bailouts are not capitalist or socialist, they’re something else. Usually bullshit cronyism and yes they favour the rich.

If you’re talking about the airline industry bailout going on in Canada, that’s something else entirely. It’s surely greasy as hell under the hood, but a giant country without functioning airlines because of a pandemic is not going to recover as fast as a functioning one. US style wallstreet bailouts are not the same as what’s going on with Air Canada.

Maybe I don’t understand bailouts enough, specifically this airline one, but there should be strict guidelines on how that money needs to be spent.
Im tired of companies receiving bailouts and then letting go of their work force or buying back stocks
