just a heads up, you do know that oil is more than just a fuel source right?

Of course, it'll never go away, but it won't be as nearly as important as it has been this century. And I don't know what 'soon' means, ~40? ~60? But as an industry, and a commodity, everything seems to suggest it's basically peaked now. I mean India, one of the world's most populous countries, just yesterday launched the world biggest solar power plant, that's the way the world is going. And out of necessity, not environmental feel-good ness.

yes but as demand slowly decrease supply will still continue to decrease.

It still makes sense to sell our oil now. in fact its all the more reason to sell our oil now. invest the profits in sustainable energy

Yep less demand means less production, which is how the future is looking for oil. Eventually, but a relatively short timeline.

Ya I know, Alberta still needs to sell its stuff, and pipelines are required. For now.

The mines that are needed for solar panels or electric cars are much much worse for the environment than any oil well or oil mine. Hilarious the environmentalists seem to not care.

have you seen the process to make solar panels? do you understand battery technology?

none of it is good, sure i understand there is going to be one worse than the other, but do we honestly know what it is?

no.....

oil doesn't really go away unless its burned, it can be recycled and reused, the materials in solar and batteries can be as well, but it is a much nastier process

Yes obviously any industry is not 100% non-intrusive, oh well. Do what you can. And no solar energy is not worse for the environment than oil...

playing the devil's advocate here.. how do you know? what part is cleaner? long team cleaner? how toxic is oil vrs the chems they use to make solar/batteries?

i mean there is a lot more to it than just its not worse, how do you actually quantify that?

my dad told me along time ago... "Once you think you know, you dont know shit"
