Curious about states school system

Here in Alberta it's

Junior high - grades 7-9
High school - grades 10-12

What's it like down there?

I think some schools have just trade 7 and 8 as junior high/middle school.

In BC it's 1-7 elementary and 8-12 high.

Middle school. So weird.
I've heard Alberta is like the states in the way we do ours. That's why I ask and wanna know.

I'd assume it depends on the state
