I guess because it pays so well they don't want someone to draw a full paycheque while they are out with a long term medical condition.
Always comes down to money. Nobody wants to get sued or pay you for not working.

The job is 10month temp. But option to get on full-time after. I'll be a good candidate and get that full time. Once full-time it's another $3/h raise. Literal dream job.
Been applying for years. They almost never hire externally. I got lucky
