I'm tempted to put my transfer notice in and move up north bc,

Huge spike in houses rn, might as well sell high af for my apartment and get a nice house up there for cheaper. Can always fly down weekends as the flight is only 55min to 1hr lol. Although it doesn't matter rn cuz of covid. Also my income would be 40k more a year up there

It’s tempting... hopefully you’re into the cold and snow.

I think the island or the lower mainland are the only places in Canada I could live year round.

I’d rather learn a new language and move somewhere sunny than deal with the snowy interior winters

I was there for a year few yrs ago, wasn't too bad tbh. Similar weather to lower mainland. Its the wind chill that makes it feel like -10 during winters, but temperature wise similar to van. My wife just isn't into the chill life up there cuz she enjoys her malls and shit. But plane tix are only 175 to 200 if bought ahead of time, which is nothing considering the pay raise from both our jobs and lower cost of living cuz we have less selections to take out or eat out from. Gotta convince her...

Our 1bedroom 680sq ft apartment 500 - 550k atm.
Sick house up there, 4bed,4bath,huge yard etc. 400k.
100k in our pockets just from property swap.
Then 40k more income from my job, and I'm not sure how much more she'd get but dental hygienist up there should make more than down here. Even if we were to buy plan tix every weekend for the year, we are still up lol. Maybe I'm just being selfish and I wanna go off roading with a bronco and go fish ahaha

Oh ya, car insurance is literally 1k+ cheaper just from the location

yeah it was hilarious when i flew down. Place i stayed up there to the airport to YVR all took 1hr 10min total. My dad picked me up at YVR, then drove to his place in Maple Ridge, with traffic and shit, it took 1hr 50min haha
24hr a day up there feels like 26 just by saving all the time commuting to get somewhere

Compounding interest is the strongest force in the universe.

Move up there. Invest the difference in the property cost.

Make way more money. Invest while you live up there and your finances will snowball very fast.

Then if you want you can move back and be able to fully enjoy Vancouver because you will be baller status.

You will probably also be able to retire early.
