Yeah they can. All they have to do is not dress B. Schenn for game 1. After that Pronger goes on LTIR and Schenn gets called back up. Will be virtually the same team as last year minus Briere, plus Streit.

So is pronger just gonna be on LTIR for the next 4 years so that flyers don't have to keep him on the cap even though he's basically retired?

It's on pronger if he wants to announce his retirement or not. All he's doing is helping the team out.

Someone correct me if my math is flawed:

So, the Flyers are currently $7,985,189 over the cap space.
They're allowed to be 10% over the cap during the off season. The cap is $64,300,000, they are - as of now - $1,555,189 over the max AND the allowed 10%

Buying out Briere will free up $6.5 million, Streit's deal is worth $5.25, meaning they would still be exceeding the 10% limit by $305,189.

I was surprised they were able to sign Streit before the buyout

They were not. They have not signed him yet. As of now it's just a verbal agreement. They need the buyout (and possibly another move if my math is correct) to be able to sign him
