I have accepted the fact that I am a destructive menace.

Our very existence is toxic from the beginning. Look at the damage we have done in an extremely short time period.

The earth is ~ 4.5 billion years old. We did not start significantly polluting until around the late 1700's. I cant imagine how much more damage we will do in the next 100 years.

The earth does not stand a chance imo.

the earth has been through so much worse.

it'll just brush us off and spit us out

worse than humanity? Is this even possible. The planet will survive us indeed but we're probably the biggest cancer the earth had to face.

Very possible. You think earths been prestine for billions of years? When it was a proto planet it was literally hell on earth. When dinosaurs roamed carbon dioxide levels were multiple times higher than they are now.
Not to mention massive meteorites that have fallen and wiped everything out and helped form the moon.
Humans are nothing in the grand scale of earth's lifetime.

Are you sure you really know what happened billions of years ago?

Im not either, you might be right. We're still a freaking cancer.

I’d say we are cancerous from our own selfish point of view. The Earth and nature will adapt to whatever inputs humans have on the ecosystem and continue on with or without our species.

The “grandiosity” that we humans have is laughable in my opinion.

There have been 5 mass extinctions already. Earth will be fine, humans are fucked.

I think that's pretty irrefutable evidence, yes. Unless of course you're a creationist and think the earth is 5000 years old.

that's my view as well

the human race barely registers as a pixel in the eons of time. let alone civilized society. our existence is only possible thanks to conditions that took millions of years to take shape. if we decide to ruin that for ourselves, as far as the tides of time are concerned we'd just be another asteroid triggering a mass extinction.

Do you call presumptions irrefutable proofs?
Dont worry i dont think the earth is flat or anything, i dont think aliens built the pyramids (even though as far as we know it's still a possibility), i simply dont think we can know for sure what happened a billion years ago, we can only presume with the knowledge we have.
We can't even know for sure what really happened in mankind history few hundred years ago... dont tell me we got irrefutable proofs of anything about the history of this planet.
