What you are saying is true but I still think raising the minimum wage is a simple cop out that does not solve the actual problem. That is why I get annoyed when that issue is always in focus and other aspects don't get the attention they deserve as a result.

I am in a union and it serves me well. I can making a living wage doing warehouse/heavy equipment operator work. That is not always the case for non-union jobs in a similar role.

Raising the minimum wage does not address the systemic problems. Under the current system it is inevitable that the divide between the have and have nots will increase exponentially.

I am pessimistic but to me it is just a way to shut everyone up and make it look like the little guy got a victory.

The very fabric of the system in place requires exploitation of both government and your fellow man to get ahead in most cases. Increasing minimum wage will not change that.

yeah it doesn't address the underlying forces that is causing wealth inequality but it does help

Working from home is great.

Lack of social interaction kinda sucks though

Performance review went as expected.

- Blamed for problems that are not my responsibility and are out of my control.
- Belittled for poor productivity compared to peers. Taking on multiple roles at a time (work that everyone else refuses to do) and being compared to those who have worked for the company for 20+ years was considered a moot point.
- Threatened with disciplinary action and/or a department transfer if productivity is not improved.
- Attempts to defend myself immediately cut off.

Nothing has changed in a year lol. Thrown under the bus again.

Being an adult is fun.

It is the typical corporate structure I have experienced.

20+ year employees are bullet proof because they carry large, contracted severance packages if they are let go. Furthermore layoffs are by seniority so they know they don't have to worry about layoffs or being fired.

Management knows these employees can not be harassed so they go after the newer employees in an attempt to pick up the slack for older employees who no longer care about the work they do.

Normally this type of pressure would backfire but with covid and the job market the way it is they know they have some leverage so I have to bite my tongue, do more work and still get shit on for being an unproductive slacker.

The position pays higher than market rate so I put up with it. I play dumb and act like I don't know what is going on.

That is the problem. I get paid good for the type of work I do and the job market is shit so I just try to be grateful I have a job.

I am looking for another job but it is very unlikely I will find something that will pay more or the same.

aren't you in warehousing/logistics? shit's been booming for the most part, if your employer claims "lolcovid" I'm sure you can find a better opportunity.

Ya. To be honest it would not be a big deal if that did happen.

I have a bad habit of thinking worst case scenario in most aspects of life.

Realistically I don't see how it would take long to find another job. I just don't want to have to start at a lower wage, wait for benefits and start another pension plan.

I think part of the problem is in an environment with scheduled raises you feel you sacrificed starting of at a low wage to hit top rate. In a union environment this usually takes a couple of years and the difference in pay is quite a bit so I would feel cheated if I were laid of in a sense.

If this job does not work out I am going to take a job that is more performance based. I have to admit it does bother me a bit that others get 4 weeks more vacation and ~10k a year more than I do based solely on seniority.
