Could you go into greater detail about this?
Is this why there has been a recent spike is gas prices or is this shutdown part of a maintenance plan?
Line 5 goes from sarnia, down through Michigan and a few other states. Also supplies oil/gas to Quebec and Ontario. All alberta oil fed. Its been in operation for 68 years.
Line 5 pipeline shutdown will happen in May as ordered by Michigan's governor
And their Attorney General Dana Nessel just did a magnificent slam back at Canadians. She rightly asks "if most of the Canadian oil flowing under the Straits then goes back to Canada, why don't they just build a new pipeline to deliver it within Canada?"
What a great question, over to you Justin Trudeau, Ontario & Quebec. Why did all of you oppose Energy East? Were you all happy with American supplied vital fuels and Lac Megantic style rail deliveries? Because that's what you're about to get until a new Canadian pipeline east is built!
And btw, forget about seeing low cost oil & gasoline to fuel a pandemic recovery. Uncle Joe down in the USA has begun attacking all fossil fuels and the impact of his Executive Orders has sent prices skywards. Gasoline prices have returned to highs not seen since Obama's days.
Not to mention Biden starting the war machine back up again.
Most people don't understand that the ineptitude of leaders like Trudeau & Biden will result in other Nations exerting their power to jack up prices as much as possible.
In this case, oil pricing is being raised across the globe. It's interesting that Saudi Arabia holds the price for Asian markets, creeps it up for the USA and slams the EU with a big price jump. I predict that when Biden remains asleep at the wheel, they'll start slamming the USA with BIG price jumps.
This is bad news for Europe, USA and Eastern Canada. But it's bloody marvelous for Alberta! And honestly, it's about time that we had a return to the true value of our Oil & Gas resources. I for one won't be complaining at the gas pumps other than remaining upset at the federal taxes, especially the damn Trudeau "carbon tax"
But at the end of the day. We DO need more pipelines to take advantage of this.
