it's probably cuz they've been doing it for a while, and they just wanna make sure the restaurants are complying with the regulation and rules, especially when people are still meeting up with friends, family to eat and socialize etc.

Then 2 cops came in, 1 stood at the door and the other walked around glaring at everyone doing a count of patrons in the restaurant. It felt a little weird and couldn't wrap my mind around it. Today I realized it felt like one of those WW2 movies where the SS came in looking for Jewish fugitives.

It wouldn't be so bad if the cop was friendly and was hey there, just doing a count, have a good night, but it was nothing like that

I dunno, I'd never have thought I'd experience that here in Canada in this day and age

lol growing up I remember cops hanging around my hood and "checking in" on shops brandishing shotguns and assault rifles. At the time I thought it was normal - you know, if a baddie comes along they're prepared. Then when I grew up I realized they ran an extortion racket.
