lol it's insane what has happened over the past 10-15 years

parents bought their first house in the area for 250K in 2005

sold it for 450K in 2012

now similar houses in the same block are in the 700-750K range

and it was a POS townhome from the 70's that sees basement flooding every other year. worst teenage memory was desperately calling for plumbers at 2 AM while trying to save our stuff in ankle-deep water.

I almost got in the game last year but I will prob move in a few year's time so didn't think it was worth. sucks tho that I will lose networth from not sitting on an unproductive asset... and if you can't afford a mortgage at all you truly are screwed.

eh my one regret was taking money away from the market because I got sp00k3d and thought I needed to buy a condo instead. The money I left through the crash has already doubled in value since Jan 1st.

Bitcoin's graphs were looking really good early December but I've done my own trading in the past and I figure I always win if I leave it to the professionals instead. the stress of speculating on a volatile asset is just not worth it.

Maybe I am leaving money on the table but I am comfortable with long term buy and hold strategies. That is what I will stick with.

Unless you are extremely lucky or extremely smart a simple buy and hold strategy will beat day trading and options investing. I am in the same boat as you. The stress is not worth it to me either.

Crypto I can not understand and I don't want to be the one holding the bag.

A part of me thinks the entire crypto industry is one huge pump and dump scheme that could bust at any moment which is why I have not taken much interest in it.

Perhaps that is just the fear of something I don't have much understanding of talking but with the consistent results I am getting with boring buy and hold I am not interested in crypto like a lot of my friends and younger demographics.

What bothers me about bitcoins is that it’s 100% speculative, and has no tangible asset linked to it.

Whereas stocks reflects (sometimes adequately, sometimes not) a company’s performance, bitcoin is just thin air and only hold value because people collectively allow it to. That’s too scary for me.

I’ll stick to good old stock trading!

So long as you have lots of them to give away and don't need them yourself.

A one week trial run is not going to hurt. Maybe I will like it.
