I got a Weener dog and she's awesome she steals socks and undewear tho lol
Big thing I think for you is what's going to do well in an apartment with out a yard (I'm assuming) you're going to have to takes more energetic dog out more often just because you can't open the door and let em run arround.
Also with beagls they tend to be more vocal, idk how much your shared wall neighbors would like that.
One of my girls is a lab mix and she loves to play, of I didn't have the other dogs and a yard for them to play in, I would have to take her out at minimum once a day.
3/5 go with me in the morning on my run and are left outside to play except for if it's raining, the other 2 are low key and don't need to go for runs and such so they stay home

It has its own fenced in dog park, although with parva that kinda makes me nervous. We have indoor walking routes though and a 2 mile trail around the three buildings. And I shit you not we have complimentary dog treats. I'm about as equipped as most homeowners minus being able to just open the door haha. They also contract for better rates with a local walking business for days I'm gonna be late getting home. All part of the 500 dollar amenities fee.
My biggest thing will be getting a dog I can trust at home for 10 hours. Thats the worry with labs and collies but I friggin love them. I'm home 7/14 days but the other 7... dunno. Crate is always an option.
Getting excited though. I moved the money around yesterday and am sending emails to shelters to set up appointments this morning. There's a Petco across the street and I have commitments from at least 5 people who can watch him when I'm on work trips and the vet is maybe 3 minutes by car at best. My friends mom runs a kennel in Michigan so if he's a problem with my parents cats she's offered to let me keep him there overnight. Literally have everything set up except finding the right dog.

How does one fall asleep if they're not tired as soon as they close their eyes
It only sometimes works, and I don't know how to say it cuz technically when you close your eyes it's what you're doing, but I stare at my eyelids. You can still see some shapes and stuff when your eyes are closed so I focus on those and they start to look like real life things. That'll sometimes put me into a dream.
