I can agree he had bad intentions. But most hits in the NHL come with bad intentions, you hit to hurt. How many hits are made in a game to separate a player from the puck? Most are made after the puck is already gone - "finishing hits".
If this falls under the new "principle point of contact" rule then fine, but other than that I think it's clean. No charge, not late.
Kid should still keep his head up. He could have been obliterated just the same if Schiefele went more through his chest and up. You don't have to get directly headshotted to get concussed.
