Bertuzzi signs for 5.5/1 year in Toronto

Did not see this coming.

Have to respect the players that elect to go for the "show me" contracts.

Bertuzzi was solid during the Bruins short run but things ended badly in Detroit.

Looked to me like he just gave up, but maybe the injuries exaggerated that.

i don't think it's a show me contract, UFA is weak and most teams already made their moves. Not many teams have the cap and make sense to sign him for long term. Also, i don't think the agents are wanting to sign term, and rather short term because of the cap going up 4-6m in the next couple years.

Have to go to Long Island.

Lou gave 3 players 7 year deals lol. Maybe that was his thought process.

they are kind of "show me" contracts but with how much they are acting like the caps going up next season it might be more waiting to sign long term to get paid

like secksi said ^^

yeah it goes both ways if you can get reasonable prices and the cap takes big jumps those are probably going to look like steals
kind of like the crosby contract in todays cap 8.7 is nuts because he signed for such a long term and the cap went up

Philip Zadina has been placed on waivers.

6th overall pick back in 2018.

1.825 million in salary until 2024-2025

Would not be surprised if a team took a shot on his as a reclamation project.

He has yet to make much of an impact at the NHL level.

He put so much pressure on himself when he came out of the draft all cocky, and couldnt live up to it. A fresh start with not as much pressure would probably be good for him.

I remember a lot of experts being surprised he was still available at 6th.

He was cocky but I figured he had the talent to back it up.

I just wonder if he could be another Nichhuskin.

A lot of these players are cocky and confident because theyre good and always has been growing up. Then they go to the NHL where there's full of good players, that are just better. It Shoots their confidence and ego down the drain, and if they wanna survive and still play in the league, they need to adjust their game. Some gets it right away, some can't and believe they can still do what they did in juniors etc. And never make it.

That's the problem with the one dimensional scorers. They need to crack the top 6 being carried by raw talent because they are not good enough to make it on their level of grit, tenacity, and overall two way play unless they are willing/able to do a full scale rehaul of their entire playstyle.

There's no better player type than the guy who has the raw talent but plays with a grinder mentality every game, desperate to win every little battle to stay on the team.
