BOS has signed Mitchell Miller, previously drafted by ARIZ. His selection was renounced once allegations surfaced of bullying in school. GM Don Sweeney will meet with media in 40 mins, Miller reports to AHL Providence.

if he can play hockey, I don't understand why it matters what he did in high school

I just believe in second chances, and if he has the talent to make the NHL, the NHL/Bruins will give him the resources to turn his situation around

“ Miller admitted in court in 2016 that he bullied Isaiah Meyer-Crothers, who grew up with him in Ohio. Meyer-Crothers said Miller frequently called him the N-word and "brownie," while harassing him for years. One of the incidents saw Miller and another classmate trick Meyer-Crothers into eating a piece of candy they had wiped along the inside of a urinal.”

Yep this would be way beyond a 2nd chance.

This sets a bad precedent for juniour players everywhere, placing kids on pedestals where they can do no wrong because they're athletic.

This is how you get to the point where a lot of sports leagues are today - so many stories of sexual assault, racsist encounters, rapes and even murders. Lot of which could have been avoided had these people not been given positions with power/money and considering nothing about the morality of the person in question.

I'm not defending his actions, but I do believe the bigger issue is that it was ignored until he was being drafted.

Back then pplngot bullied with fists/jacked. A candy in a urinal is child's play. In the pee cans at work they're called breath mints

I mean the kid is barely 20 years old, things that happened in high school are still very recent for him.

His bullying was 7+ year of harassment towards a black kid with mental/developmental issues.

Seems perfect for the culture the NHL wants to cultivate.

reaves will just punch his lights out np

That's fair, but unfortunately not the situation we find ourselves in.

Issue is more severe than you're making it out to be here. It wasn't an isloated/single incident - it was years of harassment and the kid has developmental/mental issues against a juniour athlete with NHL potential, he could not defend himself.
