I think it was 3 or 4 minutes after Perron should have been called to the box. Not definite, but also not outlandish at all to deduce that a penalty to Perron there would have changed possession/momentum to where he doesnt score minutes after he shouldve been called for a blatant delay of game that even NBC acknowledged on live tv.
I'm not saying the OT goal wasnt controversial. I'm just saying that I'm not accepting "massive asterisk on this Sharks playoff run" blind comments from vested Sharks antagonists. The series vs Vegas had game 2 literally handed to Vegas with the botched interference call in game 2. Regarding the 5 minute major in game 7, it's entirely on the Vegas defense for allowing 4 goals. Dont forget, Vegas was up 3-1 in the series. They had to lose 3 games in a row to not advance. The sharks also played the entire series vs Colorado, save game 7, without their team captain.
Just looking at the game thread on reddit for today's game, half the people are saying that the last call finally evened out the shitty officiating in general in today's game.
I dont blame anyone for being extremely frustrated at the call to end the game, but you can miss me with the asterisk on the entire playoff run nonsense.[/QUOTE]
penalties are missed every single game. every. single. game.
an illegal play directly leading to the game winning goal in overtime (meaning the other team cannot respond) isnt the same thing
going by pure statistics, if the penalty is called on perron, sharks have a 1 in 5 shot of scoring a goal.
this game ends 100% of the time with this missed play.
