I wonder why Huber would waive that. I would have wanted to go on another playoff run 1 more time with Florida

burned bridges negotiating, probably salty af and thinks the team will suffer without him.

huge win for the flames if they trade both huberdeau and weegar.
idk how the panthers throwed weegar + huberdeau a top prospect and a 2025 1st for tkachuk

Tkachuk extension in FLA is $1M/year in salary, rest in bonuses ($68M).

Becoming a common thing

That makes it very hard to buyout down the line if they ever need to.

EANHL trade tbh. Huberdeau only has a year left and might've commanded an absurd price which the Panthers won't pay (esp considering the dogshit Bob contract). Tkachuk is secured through his prime and unless he drops off a cliff could be moved in case it doesn't work out.

On the other hand Huberdeau will almost certainly walk and Weegar will probably get exposed hard in a lesser team. That said, maybe this is better than Tkachuk forcing his way into St Louis.

The trade certainly isnt as cut and dry as people make it seem. This wasnt really a fleecing by the flames. Imo panthers won this trade. Weegar is mediocre at best, his stats say he's effective but he makes crucial mistakes and the worst times. Huberdeau probably doesnt sign in florida anyways, and i just dont see him putting up the same numbers in calgary as he did in florida, and he probably walks from the flames in FA anyways, why else would he waive his clause to go to a team losing both their star players in the same offseason lmao. Controversial take, but Florida easily won this trade.

How are the Flyers the worst team in the league AND above the cap?

They don’t even have many assets to trade for futures

Tkachuk’s stats are hyper inflated by Gaudreau. Tkachuk was unfortunately a liability these playoffs. He sucked. He’ll get 80 points this year, which is good, but he’s not a saviour for the panthers. Awesome player though.

Everyone saying “panthers won cause Weegar and Huberdeau will leave UFA” have some kinda crystal ball to see the future I guess. 0 chance they go for free, they extend or they both get a 1st rounder+, which is WORST CASE for the Flames, three 1st round picks and a prospect for Tkachuk. Home run.

Or if Huberdeau extends? Doesn’t matter about the extras, that’s a win too.

We'll see, flames actually have to get that return for them first. Saying they will trade them for 1sts (which is totally do-able) is just the same as saying they will walk, you dont know for sure. Johnny just walked, never know what happens. As it stands now im sticking with panthers winning the trade, but that could definitely change. We're just gonna have to wait and see

I’d be 100% sure after getting burned by Johnny that Treliving knows that if he doesn’t sign them or trade them, he’s lost his job.
