They’re both UFA next season

Hmmm wonder if a Huberdeau deal is already worked out.

Weegar just may be a rental but now their D is even better than last year:

Hanifin - Andersson
Kylington - Tanev
Zadorov - Weegar

Also Flames have too many D on the roster now? Probably another move to happen?

Valimaki may get a change of scenery trade but other than that, they only have 6 NHL Dmen

Andy Strickland
@andystrickland
No extension in place for Jonathan Huberdeau with Calgary.

Flames could flip them at the deadline if they really wanted. I doubt they go past the deadline without an extension in place for Huberdeau after what just happened with Gaudreau.

They could get another 2+ 1st round picks out of this.

This prospect isn't a throw-in either, decent.

Huberdeau is going to get a huge $ raise and will be signed into his late 30's on this next contract, will Flames even be willing to do that

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Man, Huberdeau > Tkachuk on his own, this return is wild. I like Weegar a lot too. Don’t know who the prospect is.

I can't imagine they would have traded for him if they weren't interested in signing him, unless they actually are planning to flip.

I don't know about Huberdeau being better, he's excellent offensively but doesn't have the type of unicorn all around game Tkachuk does. 5 years older too.

I'd say the prospect is a decent B, 2nd rounder ish value?
