Im not sure why, i feel like Kadri and Colorado are still trying to make things right so he can stay with the club.
It's weird that he didnt sign yet otherwise.

* Like MacFarland told him to give him time to find space cap, heard Girard might be on the move (not sure why tho)

Reports were that Kadri went to UFA to see what offers he would get, but I'm gonna assume that it's not as good as he hoped because he's old and no teams are willing to go 7yrs or something.

So in that case, he would rather return to the Avs on a discount, rather than sign cheap anyway to a new team/environment.

I think the Avs have been shopping Girard for a while, he was the odd one out. Byram also proved concussions are behind him, and he lit the shit up in playoffs. So it makes it easier for them to move on from Girard too

So they only have 1 more season of team control? Or would it be 2 coming out of Arb? Or would that be up to Tkachuk

Since the team filed it, Tkachuk gets to pick 1 or 2 yrs I believe. He will most likely do 1, so he can go to UFA and make that dough.

I think it woulda been better if they just got the 4 1sts if some team offer sheeted lol or Calgary instant matches ezpz.

Cuz if they didn't file or did, Tkachuk will most likely pick 1 yr qo anyway. It bought em few more days to neogitate but what's the point of that if it stalled this long.

Tkachuk lost the ability to 1) simply wait out the flames, 2) sign his QA and then walk next summer, and 3) sign an offer sheet. Flames have to give him at least 9m now, but forced an end date on the drama so then get the contract of the return. Interesting play.

Filing arbitration risky tho, cuz it could end up costing flames more than 9m qo based on his stats playing with Johnny and how well the flames played in the regular season.

They coulda just qualified him at 9m and figure out an extension or trade anyway, no? Like if the few days didn't help to sign a term with the team, he will select 1yr with arbitration ruling and be UFA anyway.

I think they filed arbitration to remove the possibility of getting offersheeted from other teams, but in this case, I think it's more beneficial to the flames lol. Take 4 1sts or match and it's over.

Filing for arbitration will give them few more days to negotiate a term deal, but so far these rare situations happened to players that eventually left.. Ror, fiala, Parise etc.
So I'm a bit confused if those extra days will really help, hopefully it does and have him locked up cuz losing 2 100pt players in short span would suk

Yeah the offer sheet defence doesn’t seem true. Mostly he gave a firm deadline so Tkachuk couldn’t do the Gaudreau “yeah I’ll sign… but I’ll prob sign tomorrow thx.” Flames lose both they are crippled and Treliving loses his job.

Give Chucky the C and an 8 year deal pls.

Kind of funny that majority of the players drafted from the deep 2016 draft are being moved or already been traded. Only Matthews and Keller remain, but even Matthews will be a question mark if the leafs continue to fail 1st Rd.

Laine, pld, poolparty, juolevi, Tkachuk, nylander, sergachev, Jost etc...
